The film opens with a Robert Redford voiceover and it made me wish he had done more films his voiceover, A River Runs Through It, for example. He has such a soothing quality to his voice, kind of like Morgan Freeman. Ironically, immediately after those opening moments there is virtually no dialogue in the movie at all, let alone voiceover. It’s a pretty harrowing tale of a man lost at sea. Really well made film. Loved some of the underwater shots looking up at his vessel or his raft with the sun/moon in the background. When he watches his sailboat sink beneath the surface from his raft, I couldn’t help but think that he had to be feeling like maybe that was a very bad investment. 🤕

I kept trying to stop watching it. Kept coming back to see what he did next.

I found myself feeling so frustrated with the main character for his unpreparedness and lack of action during crucial moment. However, what I realized was that this ultimately meant that the movie was well done, believable, and well acted.

"All is Lost" is elegant in its style and very realistic with solid acting. However, I can't say I found the story entertaining or engaging.
