Where to Watch High Voltage
- eif999February 19, 2025Very enjoyable Spanish giallo with the soundtrack from Death Occurred Last Night tacked on. Loaded with a stupidly attractive cast. Marisa Mell as femme fatale, Juan Luis Galiardo as the chump and Gabriele Ferzitti - so good in Once Upon a Time in the West and On Her Majesty’s Secret service - as the handsome older husband. The film in a nutshell is a redo of Double Indemnity but with swinging and colorful early 70s style. There’s lots of film noir references even beyond that including naming Mell “Laura” but especially the double crosses. This could fit in nicely with the Carroll Baker giallos around the same time. There’s a copy of this on Youtube. The quality is best described as vintage with scenes sometimes cobbled together from different sources. It appears to be the whole film and the English captions are spot on. Let’s hope that this gets restored at some point because it’s excellent entertainment for noir and giallo lovers.
