There are classics, and then there are masterpieces. This film has always been embarrassingly underrated since the moment I saw it. Easily one of the most creative fairytales if it isn't one, every character from Hoggett and his understanding of his animals to three mice that sit between chapters/acts. For those wanting star power, Hugo Weaving is a sheepdog! This film is perfect, do yourself a favor and don't miss this gem.
A total modern classic great for kids and adults.
This movie will just get better and age well with time.
Nowadays, a film such as this would be (mis)used to bring across some sort of political point (identity politics). Not this one though. This one is heartwarming and beautiful, wholesome and non-cynical entertainment for the whole family. A must-watch!
This might be a perfect film even all these years later. I remember seeing this in the theater as a child with my family. Not for the first time I watched it with my own child who, by the end of it, was cheering on the series of events in the film. I think at 11 years old she thought she was too old to enjoy it. However, I’m 40 and there are moments that bring tears to my eyes. “Babe” is all-time classic that must continue to be shared by families for generations. Five. Stars.

December 24, 2025The movie of my young childhood. Incredible heart. Certainly to blame for cognitive dissonance when eating meat.
