Where to Watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
- I watched the extended cut version of this film, which I’ve never seen before actually and let me tell you this movie is something The biggest thing that upset me about this movie is how they portray Batman. Zack Snyder loves him some extra action and with his direction, I just didn’t care for it, there’s no reason Batman should ever kill that’s like one of his big things and he spends like half of his screen time of this movie killing people and I just didn’t understand that choice And with Superman, I mean Superman is treated like a god in this film, which I think is an interesting way for displaying Superman, but I just don’t think it’s the right way to show him especially when he’s supposed to be your main good guy. With that approach now after watching this, I think Henry Cavill would make a phenomenal injustice Superman so James Gunn get on that And finally, just some extra thoughts Jesse Eisenberg literally was not Lex Luther. He was playing the Joker that wanted to kill Superman instead of Batman, and Gal Gadots Wonder Woman feels so shoehorned in she might aswell have not been in the movie.
- Just watched the Ultimate Edition for the first time, and it really helps the movie breathe. The added scenes give things more context and make the whole story flow better. That said, Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor is catastrophically bad — almost painful to watch. He completely kills any sense of menace. The rest of the cast does fine, and the visuals are impressive. Still rough around the edges, but this version makes it more enjoyable.
- Great comic book fun pitting two hero’s against each other… The movie is fun and has dynamic action sequences and introduces Wonder Woman to the DCU! It is a winner winner…except- worst casting ever for Lex Luther. really! Needed more Wonder Woman time and Ben Affleck could really try giving an authentic performance and not phoning it in. But it is rewatchable and that is key for a successful movie in my opinion.
- Studio mismanagement was the real villain in this movie. The first two thirds of BvS is genuinely great (The directors cut of course). The conspiracy to set Batman and Superman against each other was handled really carefully and patiently. The more attention you pay, the more you see and I love that. The theatrical version of BvS cuts down massively on the setup which results in a disaster. Cutting down the best part of your movie is not a recipe for success. Another recipe for failure is to try and do 5 movies in 1. Trying to rush to Justice League truly was DCs undoing. The casting was also great, I even liked Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. Regrettably the film completely devolves in the third act. We go from a smart and patient building of conflict to an overblown CGI nightmare via baffling character decisions and even worse creative decisions. Trust me on this one - the ending is horrible. Honestly, you can have any opinion on this film and it's probably justified. I choose to love all the build up and just ignore the nightmarish finale. The audio and visuals are overall incredible. The IMAX scenes look phenominal but the dusty/sandy scenes at the start of the film have WAY too much grain, it's distracting. The audio is solid all the way through.
