Where to Watch Bicentennial Man
- PeteApril 8, 2026This movie was poorly received upon release, and that's a shame. It's a family-friendly interpretation of an Isaac Asimov story- something that sounds difficult, but plays out effortlessly on the screen. Robin Williams delivers an absolutely stunning performance as Andrew Martin, with Embeth Davidtz and Sam Neill playing some of the most genuinely charming and postive characters I have ever seen put to film. The ease with which these characters and the movie's plot seem to navigate the difficulties of life is downright refreshing compared to contemporary storytelling- most movies in the 2020's would never dare to be so 'hopelessly naive', but that quality is the movie's greatest strength. In order to empathize with Andrew, the viewer must first accept the genuine wonder with which this movie, and the protagonist, view the world. The narrative is both heartwarming and tragic, and in that sense, it's a perfect microcosm of humanity- one that makes us laugh, cry, and hug our loved ones a little bit closer. It's appropriate for general audiences, and kids will adore it, but be warned you may be in (happy) tears by the end scene if you find yourself invested in the narrative. I love this movie, and it may just be my favorite of all time... Definitely worth a watch!
- PhysicalMedia4LifeJune 1, 2026"Bicentennial Man" if you look at it shares a striking similarity with "AI Artificial Intelligence" such as that both androids wanted to be human and wanted to feel & have all of the human emotions. While I slightly prefer AI over this this is still a really good film. But this films biggest strengths for me though, is the acting from all across the board, the dialogue and the line delivery is exceptional. It's very well shot, the production design is great and overall "Bicentennial Man" is a very competently made film. The whole theme & message of the film is very powerful & effective; in terms of the hardships of life itself and all of the pro's & con's that come with it. The only major issue I've always had with "Bicentennial Man" even as a kid I felt this way; is that this feels like a 04 hour movie squeezed into just under 02 hours. There's so much going on thematically, there's so much depth here and the journey that "Andrew" goes on of self discovery throughout the years felt that it needed to be one of those 04 hour long movies as there was so much to unpack. But apart from that "Bicentennial Man" doesn't have any other problems the film just flies by; because there's so much going on with "Andrew" and the film does a very good job as making us the viewers watching feel like, we're on that journey with him which is why I could have with it being a couple of hours longer. And finally My Ratings/Scores for "Bicentennial Man" is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/05 Stars 🌟 & a 08/10
- Mike LyonsJune 22, 2025A modern take on Pinocchio. Robin Williams, casting off his manic brand of comedy, shines in a more serious role as Andrew, an android who breaks free of his programming and spends two centuries in pursuit of what it means to be human. Funny at times, but it is ultimately a beautiful exploration of human strengths and frailties. Well worth watching, and the James Horner score is the icing on the proverbial cake.
