Black Christmas 2006 is a well made movie but completely misses the point of what the original did so well. The film visually looks pretty good with the vibrant colours. The cast is pretty stacked and they all do a decent job. But everything else is just not that good. The kills are very gross and disturbing and just take you out of the film. The killer of Billy is completely ruined here and they give him a terrible backstory and it makes the character not creepy anymore. Overall it’s somewhat watchable but still a really gross and disturbing movie.

Bob Clark’s classic currently resides on my shame list, so I have no preconceptions going into this remake. This has a really fun cast. Had me feeling way more nostalgic than I would have guess from a film from 2006. Lacey Chabert took me back to my Party of Five era. Love Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michelle Trachtenberg, but also love a good *69 shout out. (Not sure why *67 doesn’t get more love and attention though.) Really solid slasher too, with some bloody kills and a entertainingly complicated backstory. Nutcracker Suite score was surprisingly effective. Really fun, but definitely makes me want to check out the original even more.

This one is underrated. Just because it’s a remake I never really gave it a chance. I’m glad that I finally saw it.

My quick rating - 5.2/10. A sequel (or remake depending on how you take it) to the cult classic that actually does follow the story loosely as well. It definitely upped the gore and didn't leave it to your imagination as the first did. And it also was a lot more effective slasher than the trash reboot from 2019. Again in the same sorority house from the first, the co-eds begin vanishing and of course, the old story of what happened in the house becomes the focus. But with the killer dead and no signs he could be back, who could be picking them off one by one in such a violent manner? There is no way to go into detail without spoilers since it relies heavily upon the first one and the story it conjures here would then be ruined. Not saying it is that confusing, I just don't give spoilers. So feel free to go into this knowing it is a sequel that does have stand-alone value. But as a stand-alone, you can knock a point or so off for sure.
