- findersDecember 21, 2025Half Decent action movie. Cheesy acting and dodgy casting in places, but it got me to the end Put it down as 90 mins of an action thriller that is okay at the time, but will probably not stick in the memory that long.
- jackmeatSeptember 2, 2025My quick rating - 4.6/10. I saw a trailer for this one somewhere, looked interesting. For being specially trained operatives in an intelligence site such as this, these are some of the dumbest people. It would be scary to think people dealing with such sensitive information would fall for such simple tricks, let alone allow important assets free rein like this. Fiction, I really hope. What could have been a pretty slick thriller turned into a fairly average bit of cinema. The poster is fairly misleading since this movie is almost entirely inside of a CIA black site; this just happens to be in the future. That part really doesn't matter much since nothing screams out scifi in this one at all. A notorious asset codenamed "Hatchet" that no one has ever seen is being transported to this site. Michelle Monaghan and the rest of the crew are assigned to keep watch upon his arrival, but this is a movie, so you know the brilliant and deadly Jason Clarke (Hatchet) is going to escape and be hunted inside this labyrinthine underground facility. As I stated, tons of potential for great action or some interesting mind games, but this one falters on nearly all aspects. Hatchet does fine when he needs to live up to his name and brings the violence, but this is not often enough to make up for quite a bit of downtime they push into this one. You will, of course, get the usual double-crosses and government secrets being exposed. I will give some credit for giving a halfway decent wrap-up to this one. In all its mediocrity, I still ended up entertained enough with it, just not enough to rave on about.
