A town where everyone seems to be named Johnson is in the way of the railroad. In order to grab their land, Hedley Lemar, a politically connected nasty person, sends in his henchmen to make the town unlivable. Could never be made in this day and age. Classic as it may be, some people still wouldn't understand the satire. Go Into it with an open heart and you will enjoy it

My dad showed me this movie and it's been a favorite ever since. Very funny and one of my favorites from Mel Brooks

Aside from the 200 slurs across the movie it's really good. As someone falling into the category of some of the slurs just let it slide for this masterpiece

    A classic hilarious movie.

    Classic!

Probably the best Mel Brooks movie. Today’s more squeamish audiences have a hard time connecting or engaging with it.

    Great movie

Just a classic, don't miss it. In my top 5 movies. John Wayne said his fans would never forgive him if he was in the movie but swore he would be first in line on opening night. He kept his word.

"Hey remember how much worse racism used to be? Let's make a movie where that's the only joke!" Swing and a miss from Brooks.

It is one of my personal favorites and most irreverent I know of. This and Frankenstein are Gene and Mel and their very best. How the actors were able to do this film with straight faces I will never know. If you hear the handkerchief by Mel Brooks, the story explains everything.

I'll start off by saying this has not aged well... at all. The abundant use of the N word is pretty jaring. If you can get past that this move becomes hilarious.

I saw this movie in 1974 as a kid in a theater full of people. Sitting in a theater full of laughing people made the experience so much better. This is the best of the parody movies.

One of if not the best movie of all time
