San Francisco Police Lieutenant Bullitt's tasked by ambitious Walter Chalmers, to guard Johnny Ross, a Chicago mobster who's about to turn evidence against the organisation. Chalmers wants Ross' safety at all cost, or else Bullitt will pay the consequences.
- Mister ArnApril 19, 2026“Bullitt” is light on plot but strong on visuals. Steve McQueen carries the film with very little dialogue, relying instead on presence, how he looks, how he moves, how he occupies each scene. The film’s memorable moment remains the car chase through San Francisco, still one of the best put on screen. It works because it feels grounded and real, not staged. What keeps the film engaging isn’t the story or the dialogue, it’s the filmmaking itself: the control, the pacing, the restraint. It’s worth watching for that alone.
