- patrickepps0416June 8, 2026I have a love/hate relationship with this this movie. I love the movie itself, but I hate how society can try to make us live up to their expectations of us. It shows how society puts us all into boxes as far as expectations are concerned. We are not allowed to explore our own ambitions and passions. This movie also makes me angry at how these young women have the responsiblity of living up to the expectations of their parents and their community. They are expected to subjugate their goals, ambitions and passions to those of their parents and the community for the "greater good," This is what John Paul Sartre, a French Philosopher calls "Being for Others"
