The musical numbers were a fantastic addition, and I love that great hand drawn art never ages. The core of the book is here, the very intentional and deliberate use of new vocabulary words and an introduction to the passing of a friend. But everything from the supporting cast of humans and animals, to the relationship between Wilbur and Charlotte isn't quite as deep or impactful. Not to say the movie isn't impactful, it is, and I think the musical aspects helps in that regard (it's a wonderful filmic shortcut to emotional connection), just that the book is able to really revel and delve through the seasons and those along the way, it feels like we're waiting with bated breath for the fair and the fate that awaits thereafter, whereas the movie just proceeds in that direction. Still a very nice companion watch to the novel.
