Chehre tries way too hard to be a smart, suspenseful crime mystery, but it just falls flat. While the film attempts to establish an atmospheric, high-concept psychological trial, its narrative relies on worn out tropes and heavy exposition. The central mystery loses its grip long before the end, rendering the climax completely predictable well in advance. Despite the presence of seasoned actors, the theatrical setup feels artificial rather than gripping. Ultimately, it settles into being a thoroughly average, missed opportunity of a thriller.
