It’s like someone took every late night VHS action flick from the '80s, fed it a gallon of Monster energy drink and then animated it with clay and pure chaos. Chuck Steel is the kind of cop who’s so over the top he makes Riggs from Lethal Weapon look subtle. He’s a one man testosterone meltdown and the movie knows it. It leans into the parody hard, but never feels lazy about it. The animation is wild, rough, fast and full of personality. You can see the fingerprints in every frame and that handmade feel gives it way more punch than slick CGI ever could. What surprised me was how tight the pacing is. It never drags, never stops to explain too much. You just get thrown into this sleazy, blood soaked world and hang on for dear life. It’s got that bargain bin energy, but in the best way, like something you’d find in a dusty corner of a video store and end up loving way more than you expected. It’s not for everyone, but if you’ve got a soft spot for claymation carnage, '80s excess and movies that proudly wear their madness on their sleeve, this one delivers.

It's not 1985 anymore...it's 1986, and Chuck Steel is 'the best God damn cop on the force' according to his long suffering boss, Captain Jack Schitt. But even this maverick, renegade, loose cannon, lone wolf, cop on the edge, who doesn't play by the rules has his work cut out when the Governor of LA decides to reduce the licensing hours for clubs and bars triggering a sudden, inexplicable spate of high profile disappearances in the city. The disappearances all have the same thing in common, a crime scene covered in blood but with no sign of the victim. The police are perplexed until they get a break in the case when one of the victims manages to escape. Chuck goes to interview the victim at the hospital but is confronted by a crazed old man who introduces himself as Abraham Van Rental. He warns a disbelieving Chuck that an evil scourge is about to descend on the city of Los Angeles - the scourge of the TRAMPIRES - a mutated hybrid of vampire and tramp.
