I saw Die Hard. Saw it probably 100 times, it's iconic. I can understand why someone would want to steal that idea and shamelessly capitalize on it to spread political and social commentary buzz word topics and prop up a fading female actresses career... by making her Bruce Willis? If it wasn't so cringe, I might have enjoyed how utterly moronic and bad it is, but alas it's just bad bad.
There have been a number of action movies to have come out in recent years where the main plot of the film is a heroic woman defeating an ominous villain. This movie “Cleaner” is a better version of those films. Actress Daisy Ridley carries a smashing performance considering the rudimentary plot of the movie. For those that like action films of the type described, you will enjoy this film.
Surprisingly, Clive Owen whom has been in a number of notable action films seems meager by comparison in this film which is unfortunate. Ruth Gemmell’s role in the movie was actually quite good. As indicated earlier the most films of this type tend to be quite linear and self-explanatory but as an entertaining action film with a basic plot, “Cleaner” fits the bill. Some may find Daisy Ridley’s “Potty Mouth” a little shocking but it all fits into the persona of the character and role. You will enjoy the move “Cleaner”.
Utterly stupid wannabe Die Hard—just swap LA for London, Bruce Willis for Daisy Ridley, and smart villains for eco-terrorists with green goblin masks. The action is okay, direction’s solid, but the script is lazy as hell. You spend most of the movie watching Ridley dangle off a scaffold before anything remotely exciting happens. It’s all style, zero originality—totally predictable, painfully wink-and-nudge obvious, with bland characters and cringe dialogue. Basically, it’s “Die Hard,” but make it Cleaner—without the charm or suspense.
This was a good watch. I wasn’t expecting much and got more than I bargained for. 3½ out of 5 rubber chickens
John McClane had flaws. John McClane wasn't invincible. John McClane fought actual villains. I'm rooting for the bad guys in this one.
For a movie with no one I have ever heard of, it was a Great action movie. The plot was a bit thin in some places, the Acting was and Action were fantastic. I would love to see some of these actors in other films like it.
