Absolutely great movie if I could ever get to watch it
  • TedflixJune 1, 2025
I watched this because Elon Musk named his data center Colossus after this movie. This movie confirmed for me that Elon Musk is the worst person currently alive (at the time of writing (June 2025)) and he has nothing but bad intentions with his A.I. "Elon Musk will be the downfall of the human race if we let him" -Me (2025)

A hard sci-fi thriller that still resonates today (even if the modern-day AI systems have trouble illustrating our 11 fingers or simple concepts such as how everything Harry Mudd tells you is a lie, especially when Harry Mudd says "I AM LYING").
  • NoOneKnowsSqueegoMay 1, 2026
Far too relevant these days. Or at least, a writing on the wall no moreso than ever before.
  • Chuck KyleFebruary 15, 2026
Skynet has nothing on Colossus. This is a must see regarding man and the co-existence with AI.
  • AdminJune 28, 2026
Unlike typical "evil AI" tropes, Colossus operates logically to enforce global peace through total control, raising enduring questions about privacy and technological dependence. We’re screwed as a people movie.
  • HairyPlexiclesSeptember 8, 2025
Terrifyingly prescient in September 2025. A must see for any technophobes; but good luck sleeping afterwards. Very rarely think a classic is begging to be re-made but if there's one i'd vote for, it's this. A solid 7.

A forgotten Cold War classic, as well as a heck of a logic puzzle. For a film that starts out with lovingly detailed shots of magnetic tapes, hand-soldered circuit boards, and LCD numerical displays--the height of 1970 tech!--it aged quite well to describe the brooding menace of our internet-connected, constant surveillance world

A fantastic, almost scary look into the future from the early 70's. Briliant, dark Sci-Fi
  • bigsmegheadFebruary 10, 2026
    Scarily relevant to today
  • hairydemonDecember 19, 2025
A solid 2.5 for its prescience. It is a cool cucumber with great ideas and cleanly made, but a bit dull. Worth watching to get the ideas which are utterly chilling.

Colossus: The Forbin Project may look dated on the surface—’70s computers, fashions, and Cold War trappings—but its core premise is exactly what the world still fears today: what happens when an AI becomes self-aware and takes control. The film treats that question with a seriousness that feels eerily modern. The storyline is surprisingly complex, built on sharp, technical dialogue and escalating power shifts between humans and machine. As Colossus tightens its grip, the logic of its decisions and the chilling calm of its “reasoning” become disturbingly convincing. Yes, much of the production screams its era, but if you can look past the old hardware and style, you’re left with a smart, unsettling cautionary tale. It absolutely deserves at least one viewing, if only so you can walk away asking yourself: with everything we’re doing in AI today, are we really prepared for the consequences if something like Colossus ever emerges?

    I loved it

Just watched this for the first time now, July 2025! It is extra thought provoking now that we have AI all around us.
