- Chris CFebruary 18, 2026A stellar cast and nice acting help elevate what could have been a bog standard crime-thriller into a very solid movie. There are action scenes in the movie, but they're pretty small scale. Despite that, I couldn't help see parallels with the all-time-great "Heat", particularly between Hemsworth's and De Niro's characters—which is lofty company to be in. I appreciated that the ending provided closure without tying up all of the loose ends, while at the same time also feeling like it was not a setup for a sequel.
- MrTrivetJuly 31, 2026This is a crime thriller that doesn't try to hide its influences - the spirit of classic crime films is unmistakably present, yet it is able to support itself with enough style of its own to avoid feeling like a mere imitation. Its greatest strength is the execution: gorgeous cinematography, a dense atmosphere, and expertly sustained tension make it an engaging watch despite its familiar genre conventions. City of Los Angeles itself plays a major role, becoming almost another character in the story. The lingering shots of the flyovers and the streets beneath them, showcasing wealth and poverty existing side by side, perfectly capture the contrasts that define its world. The standout, however, is the cast. Barry Keoghan steals every scene as an aspiring gangster whose cocky attitude brings an unpredictable, unsettling energy that fits this world perfectly. This isn't the next Heat, but it's a stylish, well-crafted thriller that rises above the average crime film thanks to its atmosphere and performances.
- Amir AnimashaunFebruary 20, 2026Don’t know where to begin with this tbh. One of the worst endings I’ve seen imo it was so weird. I went in blind thinking Chris Hemsworth was a detective working with Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry’s characters. I did not know he was a THIEF! The good of this movie is the cinematography it looks gorgeous especially the drone work. The action and chase scenes were tense and I cared for Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry’s character. The rest of this movie is hot garbage. The acting is horrendous I’m sorry Barry Keoghan was a train wreck his Irish accent was shining through his horrible somewhat American accent. Chris Hemsworth’s American accent was so unconvincing damn this movie is a mess and has problems. This did not need to be 2hrs and 20mins it’s so dragged out especially some of the scenes. Yeah the more I talk about this movie the angrier I get 🤣
- vangh1March 3, 2026"Listen... I love the way they cheer for home. Nobody in LA does that." I feel like this one perfectly shoots the gap between complex and convoluted. You spend just the right amount of time wondering "Who is this and what are they up to?" before there's a well executed reveal. Pretty much everybody nails their performances. Mark Ruffalo is at the point in his career where you just know he's going to absolutely bring it, Barry Keoghan has 100% found his niche, and Monica Barbara has that breezy, seems effortless style here that just always works. It's probably fair to say it starts stronger than it ends, but it wraps up relatively well, not exactly in the way you'd expect, with a well earned conclusion for each of the characters. Apparently it plays as a Heat ripoff for a lot of people, and that movie remains one of the most glaring gaps in my watched list so maybe that benefited me.
- Jason LaytonApril 7, 2026One of those shows that are so much better than you realize as your watching it. Ruffalo is truly one of the best actors of his (and my) generation. Halle Berry and Chris Hemsworth are absolutely perfect and the Chef's kiss was Barry Keoghan who is well on his way to a huge career. Watch it twice.
