Where to Watch Daredevil
- Doc Worm1d agoIf you've seen the Charlie Cox iteration, the comparisons are impossible not to make. Its a vastly superior rendition on the characters and its world. With that out of the way, this came out 12 years prior to that and should be treated as such. This movie viewed today is an interesting watch. Its certainly a product of its time. Its mostly a tough watch but there are a few things it does right. For example, the casting is inspired across the board. Affleck does fine as Matt Murdock, Jon Faverau is a great Foggy Nelson, Michael Clarke Duncan is a solid kingpin, Joe Pantoliano is a fantastic pick for Ben Urich. Collin Farrel and Jennifer Gardner do fine in their respective roles. There is some interesting takes for how they demonstrate Daredevils skills and how he navigates his life as a blind man. Unfortunately the script undoes most of the good will done with the casting. Its bad. Really bad. Cheesy delivery throughout. Some of it is fun and intentional but when they try are trying to do anything serious or elevated it just doesn't work and comes across as wooden. In 2003, there wasn't a tremendous blue print for how to bring comic book stories to the screen and they try to utilize the editing here to emulate it. In its final product though, it comes across as CORNY. Lots of terrible cuts and transitions throughout that land with a complete thud. Overall, there is some fun to be had here but its honestly a mess of a film. Beyond curiosity, its hard to say that this movie is worth revisiting. Especially with how they massacred my girl Karen Page. Downright criminal how they shrunk down here role here. Different times I guess....
- ርልዪረJanuary 30, 2025🧑🦯👺 As a teenager I grew up watching the Daredevil movie and reading the comics. He's still my favourite Marvel character. I loved the original daredevil film then, but have to admit as I look back; it was pretty poor. So when I read a few reviews for the Director's Cut I got curious. The film is considerably longer, and considerably better! There is so much more detail in there that gives more depth to the characters and to the story line. A lot more attention is paid to Matt as a lawyer and this ties into the storyline brilliantly. I'd say it actually makes the film! There is more comic book content, especially references to the Frank Miller version. Comic fans will love it. Why the church setting...the film answers it. The Electra/Daredevil relationship...the film improves it. The legal partnership relationship...the film strengthens it. Much better dialogue. Every character in the film is given more time and therefore the film portrays their character more intimately. As Ben Affleck admitted, the theatrical version sucked badly and I can only urge anyone who was disappointed with the original PLEASE watch the Directors Cut and I'm sure you'll love it.
- keithy077February 14, 2026I have seen some movies in my time. Even really bad ones I'll sit through, and it's not too often I turn a movie off half way though. Unfortunately for this movie I just couldn't handle it and had to switch it off and go stare at a wall. More exciting. If I got this movie for free, I still would have paid to much.
- stuhannafordNovember 13, 2025It’s watchable, but there are so many issues, not least that the film plays like a comic, rather than a comic book movie. The scenes are very directly knitted, with little story in between, which leaves everything feeling rigid and stunted. The effects and action have a distinctly early noughties feel, and it falls into the lazy trap of being over run with a nu-metal soundtrack to try and paper over the cracks with dramatic music, rather than storyline. The leads are all subjected to a cheesy script, and Pantoliano is criminally underused. Not seen it? Not missed much.
