In Austin, Texas, the girlfriends Julia, Arlene and Shanna meet in a bar to drink, smoke and make out with their boyfriends before traveling alone to Lake LBJ to spend the weekend together. They meet the former Hollywood stuntman Mike, who takes Pam out in his "death-proof" stunt car. Fourteen months later, Mike turns up in Lebanon, Tennessee and chase Abernathy, Zoë and Kim, but these girls are tough and decide to pay-back the attack.
I love this movie I love the way that it was purpously scratched as a homage to chase films of the 60s 70s it really gives the film a gritty feel to it while making it feel real. The actors are brilliant Kurt Russell was perfect for the role. I like the way the film is film is shot the cinematography is very good. the dialogue is good it seems natural and flows really well. My only problem with the film is that it spends too much time on the conversations between the characters. I would recommend watching this it's a really good film with one of the best chase scenes ever filmed. even though the film can drag a bit
The film leaves a good impression after its spectacular ending, but to get there, you unfortunately have to sit through all those drawn-out dialogues.
All around fun. Quentin balances gore + fucked up and lighthearted + satirical best in this film than any of his others imo. Also...........feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttt
I know this is often cited as Tarantino's worst film, but frankly I think it's one of his best. A contentious five stars.
I get that people think the dialogue is overly indulgent, and hey maybe it is, but it never bored me. I like being a fly on the wall watching these people live their lives, blissfully unaware of the absolute nightmare the impossibly cool Kurt Russell is about to bestow on them. It's gorgeously shot, it's a fun homage to classic car movies and horror and B movies all in one, it's unique, it's got awesome Kurt and Zoe Bell, I loved it.
Definitely prefer it on its own though, not as part of Grindhouse. Planet Terror sucked.
While I am a big fan of Tarantino, this felt like it dragged on and I don’t really feel like the payoff was all that great. I normally love Tarantino’s dialogue heavy films but found this to be tedious.
