Where to Watch Death Wish: The Face of Death
- MR_BigTimeJune 24, 2026Now, I ain't no expert or anything, but I believe just about the only justification you can have for standing by a horse's butt and expecting anything less than a hoove shot at your face would be you neither have seen enough movies with horses or been kicked into next week by one yourself. Death Wish: The Face of Death is no different. By the time I reached the fifth movie about a horse as old as Mr. Kersey, I knew exactly what to expect: yet another remake. This entry brings absolutely nothing new to the formula, at least nothing significant, but it carries itself fairly well, despite any WTF moments one may encounter along the way. The writing felt sloppy (or was it the directing?) and mostly devoid of creativity, but the cast was pretty good, in my opinion. I especially liked the antagonist, Tommy O'Shea (Michael Parks). Bronson was, well... Bronson. Were you expecting any different? Yet, with all the negatives I have expressed so far, I somehow enjoyed this one. Call it nostalgia, even if you think the previous entries didn't amount to much, either. Either way, I'd only recommend Death Wish 5 to people who either watched the previous ones and are still curious about this version or haven't seen them and are in the mood for a vigilante flick of the 90s who was actually born in the 80s.
- Patrick WaiMay 25, 2026By this point Bronson is way too old to play either a believable hero or some supposedly irresistible leading man, and the movie’s refusal to notice that becomes its own form of comedy. The script is stupid, the acting is terrible, and the whole thing feels worse than a made-for-TV movie somehow trying to cosplay as a theatrical release. Michael Parks, hiding behind sunglasses, briefly looks like Robert Downey Jr. from across the room, right up until he opens his mouth and reminds you that no, this is a much sadder situation. The Paconi brothers as his lieutenants are even worse: incompetent, unmenacing, and almost parody-level bad. And of course, because this is a Death Wish movie, becoming Bronson’s girlfriend is basically a death sentence with better lighting. Don’t waste your time.
