From the nocturnal atmosphere of Hopper's Nighthawks to the dramatic chiaroscuro of Caravaggio, the film's color palette, lighting, and camera work create a succession of astonishing images—individual works of art in their own right. As in Blow-Up, David Hemmings witnesses a murder and is drawn into the role of an amateur detective. The result is a mesmerizing blend of visual beauty, suspense, and terror that remains one of the defining achievements of Italian horror cinema.

It took me three tries bc I kept falling asleep 😰 (I’ll take part of the blame, as I only would attempt to watch it near the witching hour) God that theme song fucking rocks. Plus I love the Goblin score. Always excellent. Masterful reveal.
