    Made me cry lowkey

At first, I thought "Deep Sea" was a mess. It's a relentless explosion of color and frantic action that feels random and exhausting. I was ready to write it off as a "Spirited Away" wannabe. But then the ending hits, and everything clicks into place. It’s a beautiful, heartbreaking story about childhood depression that is powerfully emotional and incredibly creative. The unique animation, blending CGI with traditional Chinese ink painting, is absolutely stunning. This isn't a movie for little kids, and it demands patience, but stick with it. The payoff is more than worth it. An absolute masterpiece

Visually stunning. At times, it’s legitimately one of the best looking animated movies I’ve seen. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect which the story for most of the runtime. It’s clearly inspired by Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, but it just didn’t quite work as well for me. Part of it had to do with the language translation and the fact that the dialogue moves so fast at times that it’s hard to catch what’s being said. Not to mention I really didn’t want to be reading subtitles since it was distracting from all the eye candy on the screen. I really wanted to rate it higher because it’s truly a stunning looking film, but the reality is that I was bored for large chunks in the middle. I still recommend checking it out if you’re a fan of animation. The trailer gives a pretty good taste of what you could expect.
