- yothisisyoJanuary 14, 2026In all the noise of 'human' life , there are moments when you look at the lives of others and wonder if there exists a timeline where you could be a totally different person doing a totally different thing. Folktales forces you to do that thinking, you see every little detail of this little school that is just trying to teach the usual run of the mill survival skills. The school and the people in it are not in for a vacation or a random 'get-away', they are in for living and may be in the process of it actually loving to live. It focuses this part for the 'young' because they are going to start living the real life from now. It affirms that there were millions before you and there will be millions after you living the same life, so they have hope in you living the same life and you should have it too. It also tells you 'Don't make it difficult for yourself thinking you are doing something very difficult that you feel like giving up'. While the entire movie is a little journal of a class, it ends up being something beyond that. It's actually a great ad for the program and I don't mind it. The movie is beautiful to look at, as expected it's production took thousands of years of evolution (pun intended) i.e Nature.
- Kevin WardJanuary 3, 2026A sweet and straightforward coming of age doc elevated by the gorgeous Norwegian winter, endless snow, moving score, and the aurora borealis often dancing in the background. But let’s be honest. The real pull is the dogs. They are so cute and cuddly, it truly seems like this would be a magical experience. By the end I honestly wished I had gone to a school like this, surrounded by snow and huskies and a whole year to figure myself out.
