Where to Watch Footloose
- MR_BigTimeJune 27, 2026Contrary to what I perceive to be the popular belief, Footloose isn't a movie about dancing. It's a movie about people and their attitudes towards life itself, and how sometimes it's easier to fixate on the circumstances surrounding loss than to realize that while the choices we make, as well as when and where we make them do tend to predispose us to the likelihood certain results, sometimes shit just happens. Like if you're cooking and doze off on the couch while you wait and the pot boils over and makes a mess, did it happen just because you were cooking? Will you never cook again? In that sense, this film presents us with a situation relatable to some of us, while managing to be funny and addressing other issues too. Yes, I would have expected to see more actual dancing, but more than to take center stage, dancing was meant to be a marketing tool to engage a certain audience. It was the problems stirring backstage in this small town of Bomont that were the focus of this script. WIth all that said, I do believe that the cast did make it way more enjoyable than it may have been otherwise. At the end of the day, regarless of why, this is one of the films I revisit every now and then.
