An absolute xmas classic! Introduced this to the kids tonight, and you realise how non-kid friendly it really is, but it's all the better for it. Such a perfect cast, and such a fun story.

What can I say, it’s a classic. This movie is more fun than scary and I think it’s one of the funniest 80s films I’ve seen, it’s also weirdly cozy and I like watching the movie near the end of the year since it takes place during Christmas. The only warning I can give is that don’t watch this film if you’re scared of pets, but it’s still very good and Joe Dante really created a cool story here. I can’t wait for Gremlins 3!

Weird, funny, creepy, and adorable. A Christmas classic.

Gremlins is a brilliant mix of comedy, horror, and Christmas magic that has stood the test of time. The creatures are funny, chaotic, and surprisingly creepy, making every scene entertaining. It perfectly balances laughs with suspense, and Gizmo is one of the most lovable movie characters ever created. A true 80s classic that's just as enjoyable today as it was when it was first released.

Probably been 20 years since I last watched this. So much fun. And so much nostalgia. Phoebe Cates 🤩 Somehow forgot that Corey Feldman was in this. Dude was in every movie from my childhood.

This 1984 classic is just the right amount of comedy, fantasy and horrific catastrophe as you can get. Fun story and even better animatronics too. The CGI / Claymation done in a few scenes were a bit lacking but it's obvious that the bulk of the money on this movie was spent on the puppets for sure. In the end this one stands up to the test of time just as good as any other 80s classic and it's a fun revisit, especially around the holidays. Just be warned, it's not as tame as your memory told you it is and I believe the PG rating is a bit false….in MY opinion I would want to see a PG-13 rating on this movie. I dont think a 5 year old should watch this film….but that’s me. You do you.

    Definitely a Xmas standard

A long time blind spot! Much better than I was expecting! Very funny! Sound and puppeteering teams should win all the awards!

A Christmas classic despite being full of plot holes and dumber than the inbred offspring of valleys first cousins. It’s huge seasonal fun with a suitable soundtrack, Scrooges and the magical quaintness of the 80s as the peak of civilisation. Warning that even as a PG it unequivocally states there is no Santa in case you’re sharing with a younger audience.

Me and my wife are going through our childhood movies. This is a classic film that would never be allowed to be created in this day and age unfortunately.

Saw this one in cinema, back when Christmas movies could be cute, creepy and wildly inappropriate for kids. Billy gets a Mogwai named Gizmo for Christmas, along with three very specific rules: no bright light, no water and no feeding after midnight. Naturally, all three get broken and chaos ensues. Joe Dante directs with gleeful menace, blending holiday cheer with creature feature madness. The Gremlins go from mischievous to murderous in record time blowing up microwaves, wrecking bars and singing carols with razor teeth. The puppetry is top tier ’80s magic. Gizmo is adorable, Stripe is terrifying and the rest are somewhere between Looney Tunes and nightmare fuel. The cast is pitch perfect: Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Hoyt Axton anchor the madness, while Dick Miller gets his moment as the paranoid neighbor who was right all along. I liked the tone, the practical effects and the way it made cinema nights feel wild, weird and wonderfully off kilter with snow covered streets, gremlin mayhem and a Christmas story that’s anything but cozy.
