Where to Watch Hero at Large
- Jacob O’NealJuly 11, 2025Flawed but enjoyable movie with John Ritter as an out of work actor who takes a job pretending to be a superhero for a movie a premiere. While still in a costume he entered a store that was being robbed and thwarted the robbery. This led to the delusion of become the superhero in his real life. The idea was compelling and Ritter was fantastic. He brought heart and humor to a weightier story than fans of Three’s Company at the time knew he was capable of. Anne Archer and Kevin McCarthy were also a lot of fun to watch. The problem was the pacing and direction. They didn’t quite always hit the mark. But you’ll find yourself rooting for him, smiling and generally enjoying yourself in this movie more than you likely did at Ritter’s failed dramady called Hooperman from the early 90’s. The movie has become more relevant again with the MCU being as popular as it has been, much like how Superman was big a couple years before this originally came out. It may be a good time watch this for the first…or revisit this forgotten little flawed gem.
