Where to Watch Hoppers
- Davey’s Wonderful WorldMarch 8, 2026This movie was shockingly spectacular. Seriously I’m stunned! The trailers for this movie really don’t do it justice. The cast for the movie is really damn good, The characters are charming, Mabel was a very enduring main character and reminds me a little bit of Flint Lockwood from Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and the jokes in this movie were pretty solid, even though I can’t act like every single joke in this movie works, and when a joke doesn’t work, it can be a tad annoying but I’d say 2/3’s of this movie jokes do work. Plus this movie has a surprising amount of heart to it which I’m really shocked again the trailer is really just going through this film justice and you need to see this movie in order to get what I’m really saying. So please check this movie out when you have a chance you won’t be disappointed. 8.2/10
- rg9400July 7, 2026Hoppers is a lot better than most of the recent Pixar movies, so it's easy to be impressed with it. It has sentimental moments and a good message at its heart. It is cute with a unique concept at its foundation. While the movie is a bit by the numbers in some ways, I do think it takes surprising turns halfway through that prevent it from feeling cliched and predictable. Especially after a few disappointing movies and Pixar's shift towards making sequels and expanding existing IPs, Hoppers feels distinct and an attempt to harken back to Pixar's glory days. However, I do think it doesn't reach the standards Pixar had set for itself, and if we ignore the last 5 years, I think Hoppers would be considered a mid movie in the Pixar filmography overall. The reason is that it has this Disney sheen over it. First, the humor is overtly silly. Granted, it is a kids movie, but Pixar is known for cleverly packaging double meanings and larger ideas into its jokes whereas I think a lot of them here are just slapstick and childish. Second, I think the messaging in the movie has been sanitized. There are some really strong ideas in here about the nature of resistance, land as the motivation for conflict, and deep-seated animosity between two separate sides. When I mentioned earlier that the movie is a bit by the numbers, I think it is really in these themes. It definitely showcases Pixar's ability to go beyond the standard formula that you might find in any number of other similar animated movies. However, I think it doesn't have that insightful and cathartic moment by seeing the ideas all the way to their end, maybe because Disney is wary of making a statement. I have these criticisms only because of the standard Pixar has set for itself, and even though this isn't as corporatized as Toy Story 5, it is hard to ignore the Disney influence on Pixar. That said, Pixar can make you fall in love with characters so quickly or imbue moments with a lot of pathos, and Hoppers has that in spades. The opening and the ending definitely hit my heartstrings. Even if it didn't reach its full potential, Hoppers is still a great movie and the best Pixar has been in years.
- Doc WormJuly 6, 2026Pixar has done a great job in its later years diversifying their animation. The stylistic choice, seemed simple at first but lended itself quite well to its goofy and emotive cast. It also happens to have some of the best textures you’ll see in a 3D rendered film. Period. Beyond this, I thought the premise was super fun and extremely well executed. It does a surprisingly good job getting you invested in its world while keeping it all grounded in its messaging. Hoppers is one of the best animated movies I’ve seen in a while and welcome addition to Pixar’s extensive, high quality portfolio.
- SpanktacularJune 27, 2026Perfection. The animals are beautifully animated and adorable, the story is charming, and the voices acting/cast are 10/10. Expected a 3/5 background watch but got locked in. Pixar also worked out their garish facial expressions so they look cute and natural and don't look like they're constantly straining to give birth.
