- jackmeatSeptember 22, 2025My quick rating - 4.4/10. Looked like your everyday home invasion flick so figured why not since it is brand new. Justwatch has streaming options for this one, if you want to check it out (Plex users know where to look.) Who, when their car won't start, says first thing "It must be the spark plugs" LOL. Definitely one of those movies that isn't good enough to ever watch again AFTER you have seen the whole thing and got the plot "twist." I have to assume this was a big play on the panic of COVID. But the story itself is about Darya Avratinskaya playing Jane (but not voiced for some reason) and her fear of the dark. There is a deep-rooted reason for this, and she is in the midst of confronting it when she and a few friends head out to the countryside for a birthday celebration. But things quickly turn as a pandemic has swept over the city, and a couple of guys arrive to ruin their trip. They are able to cower in the home (or lockdown if you will) to avoid the killers outside. But unfortunately, there is just as much trouble inside, since in these movies, the friends who travel together always seem to actually hate each other. The metaphors do keep flying, and they are able to actually keep it interesting for what it was worth. But the acting is very uneven, especially the strange dubbing. It was in English, so not sure what the deal was there. I am sure I could look it up to find out, but really? I shouldn't have to; it was distracting regardless. And as I said, even if it wasn't a bad movie, the ending leaves a lot to be desired. If it does end up on your TV somehow, it isn't a total loss, as I was interested in finding out what the killers actually wanted and also what in the hell those windows were made out of (you'll get that question if you watch it). One notable thing is that the fight scenes in this were actually pretty good. Strange they were able to get those correct while missing so much more.
