The excellence in filmmaking of Spielberg meets the zany bottle rocket of Short. Fun and unserious. Meg Ryan is throwing heat. Plus Quaid.

Underrated film, great effects and funnier than it has any right to be. Great cast.

It's ok. I'm just a bit jaded by it's continuous play on cable in the 80s.

Saw this one in the cinema when it came out, big screen and I was grinning from the first frame. Test pilot Tuck Pendleton gets miniaturized and accidentally injected into a hypochondriac named Jack Putter. From there, it’s a wild ride through the human body, with lasers, romance and Martin Short’s manic brilliance. The concept was bonkers and brilliant: Cold War espionage meets Fantastic Voyage, but with Spielberg polish and Joe Dante’s zany energy. Dennis Quaid was all swagger, Meg Ryan was magnetic and the effects? Pure spectacle. You could spot the occasional matte line or model wobble, but that just added charm. I loved the crazy idea and execution. The practical effects still hold up and the blend of comedy, sci-fi and action made it unforgettable.

I hadn’t seen this since ‘87. I completely forgot how much fun it is.

Manic, goofy 80's sci-fi. A spectacle of physical special effects and cold-war escapism fantasy.
