- RichardOctober 18, 2025This one’s B-movie fun at its most unapologetic, watched it for the premise, stayed for the flying saucers and space Nazis. The setup? In the final moments of WWII, a secret Nazi space program escapes to the dark side of the Moon. Seventy years later, they return with a fleet of retro futuristic warships and a plan to conquer Earth. It’s absurd, over the top and proudly ridiculous. The visuals punch above their budget, thanks to Finnish ingenuity and some surprisingly slick VFX. The Moon base design, the Zeppelin battleship and the Apple powered war room all scream “we had fun making this.” Julia Dietze plays Renate with wide-eyed sincerity, Christopher Kirby’s James Washington brings campy charm and Udo Kier… well, he’s Udo Kier. Enough said. The satire is broad, Earth’s politics are lampooned with glee and the American president is a Sarah Palin caricature with a PR team straight out of Idiocracy. I liked it for what it is: dumb, entertaining and weirdly watchable. It’s the kind of movie that made adult years feel cheeky, politically incorrect and full of lunar lunacy, with swastika saucers, Nazi fashion shows and a finale that dares you not to laugh.
- Peter BickfordJanuary 30, 2026Visually stunning--and stunningly weird--satire. But when I found out it was Finnish (and made by a guy who sings for a Finnish industrial band) somehow it all made sense. That the soundtrack is by Laibach is the perfect chef's kiss for this effort. Watch it as a double feature with Rare Exports.
- ZokkiieJanuary 14, 2026A solid B movie with a ridiculous idea that it commits to hard, and that confidence carries it a long way. The visuals and production design are way better than expected, and back then a lot of the jokes really did land. Watching it now, though, the jokes haven’t aged well even though they were top-notch at the time, and some of the satire feels clumsier than it probably meant to be. The pacing is uneven, the characters are mostly sketches, and not every gag works — but the energy, weirdness, and sincerity make it easy to enjoy anyway. Messy, dumb fun with just enough bite left to stay entertaining
