- CallumNovember 18, 2025⭐⭐☆½ – Kids vs Monsters – Charlie & the Monsters Factory Kids vs Monsters feels a bit like someone threw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Cabin in the Woods into a blender and hit “semi-pulse.” You've got five rotten, bratty kids sent to what’s basically a monster-filled behaviour correction camp, with one sweet kid in the mix to remind you that not all children are devils. The cast boasts some big horror royalty — Malcolm McDowell and Lance Henriksen among them — but even they can’t transform slightly stale dough into a gourmet meal. The film’s premise is fun, and the colourful creature designs are entertaining enough, but it’s all let down by half-baked writing and a lack of emotional punch. Still, for younger viewers or those looking for a safe, silly Halloween flick, it’s got charm. It’s not scary. It’s not smart. But it’s good enough for a rainy afternoon with popcorn and absolutely zero expectations. 🍬 Pairing: A packet of budget gummy worms — bright and squishy, but you'll forget you ate them 10 minutes later.
