A marine biologist is doing research on a fish farm when she encounters several strange occurrences. Along with the brutal deaths of two teenagers, all signs point to the deep fjord; can there be more to the depths than the eye can see?
- ርልዪረMay 1, 2026I really wanted to like this movie. I love monstermovies and especially those involving huge sea creatures. However, the actors, especially the main lead, were flat and boring. The script is riddled with crimes against physics, logic and common sense. The special effects are dubius and mostly hidden in blurred backgrounds - and OH MY GOD - the blurred backgrounds! Did you want to have a look at the fjord or the Kraken? Good luck, they will mostly be out of focus in the background. The sad face of an actor was often the only thing to look at, because everything else was blurred. I live in Oslo and cheered when I saw the blurred outline of our Opera House, just to realise that the blurred outline was the only thing I was allowed to see from my home city. All the effects seemed fake, there was no proper interaction between the effects and the actors - so the vast majority felt like CGI inserts. Look at a movie like Jurassic Park and the scene where the T-Rex blows Grant's hat off, to see how CGI and practical effects must co-exist in order to build an illusion. There was several deaths and other newsworthy stuff going on for quite some time wihtout any media attention and no other police presence than a single woman. How? Where are the journalists, the extra police, the crime scene investigators?
- ZokkiieJune 8, 2026There's something very likable about a movie that knows exactly what it is. This isn't trying to reinvent the creature feature or be the next big blockbuster. It just takes a classic monster-movie setup, drops it into a gorgeous setting, and lets things play out. I found it easy to settle into, and whenever the threat was front and center, the movie had my full attention. It does take a while to get where it's going, though. The build-up is sometimes more interesting than the payoff, and I kept wishing it would be a little bolder with its biggest ideas. Even so, I never felt like I was wasting my time. It's the kind of movie that's easy to enjoy in the moment, even if it doesn't stick with you for very long afterward.
- Olle LönnrothMay 10, 2026Potential, it’s mixing in nordic folklore into classics like deep blue sea. Had it been more in depth where the creature came originated from, it would be better. However the movie concluded without any proper or major reveals regarding why the creature appeared in the Norwegian fjords. Crowds were left guessing.
