- macaronzJune 17, 2026Since the film is based on Ismat Chughtai’s short story, which I haven’t read yet, I decided to do a bit of research on her after watching it. I learned that she wrote extensively about feminism and tackled bold, taboo topics much like Saadat Hasan Manto. It immediately brings to mind Manto's famous quote: 'Meri kahaniya to samaj ko Aaina dekhane ka kam karti han bas.' Ultimately, the movie didn't feel incredibly impactful to me, though it remains a decent attempt. I'll definitely read the original story whenever I get some free time.
