A man wrongfully accused and convicted of conspiring to commit espionage against the US government is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter from an outer-space prison that's been taken over by violent inmates.
- DisentMay 31, 2026Pretty decent action flick - Makes no sense this was sued for ripping off "Escape from New York" nothing about this reminds of that film, sure it has vaguely similar plot but thousands of films have equally similar plots to thousands of others, a bad precedent to set French courts, anyway, this movie is watchable popcorn film, not offensive and as derivative as most B grade action films.
- flavo43November 22, 2025Lockout is one of those fun, fast-paced action films that feels instantly familiar—maybe a little too familiar. A lone hero sent to rescue someone from a dangerous prison? Only this time the prison happens to be in space. The plot borrows so heavily from classics like Escape from New York that you can practically predict each story beat before it happens. And yet, despite that, I still found myself entertained, almost entirely because of Guy Pearce’s performance. His sarcastic, tough-as-nails lead character injects the movie with a sharp wit and energy that keeps the whole thing afloat. Without him, I honestly might have lost interest halfway through. The action is slick enough, the sci-fi setting adds a bit of novelty, and the pacing rarely slows down. It may not be original, but Lockout delivers a solid, throwaway good time—thanks largely to Pearce turning a derivative script into something genuinely watchable.
