- Laura DunawayMay 3, 2026I am so excited to see this movie . I wanted to see this movie when it first hit theathers but I had to wait until I saw this movie with my grandparent's today. My grandpa said that he gives this movie a b- and that it didn't have alot of Michael Jackson songs in it. Also he said that they showed too much of Michael Jackson's dad in the movie . My grandma says that Michael Jackson's Nephew didn't really look like him and anyone could of danced or played Michael Jackson other than his nephew . I give a A- I really enjoyed the film even though there where somethings I thought where missing from the film . When the young Michael got upset or when he was older who got upset I wanted to give him a hug . Jaafar didn't look exactly like his uncle but he did a nice job dancing and taking like him. When I first heard him talk I was shocked that he sounded alot like Michael. When Michael Jackson was sitting in the chair wanting his nose to be operated on I wanted to jump into the film and say no don't do it your nose is perfect the way it is, it's not too big , it frames your face nicely " even though it was not the real Michael Jackson on screen. It was really weird that Janet Jackson wasn't in the film no wonder she stormed out and disliked the film. I hope this movie is not a cash grab and that it is a real tribute to Michael Jackson's life legacy. I do hope there is more to this movie after watching the movie I wanted to watch more .
- Luke Erickson1d agoI watched this with my kids and everyone loved it. The music is the best part of course. I didn't know about the early years of Michael's life. I was talking up the 80s to my kids which is hilarious because I didn't live in the 80s. My favorite commentary from my 5 year old. She said, "I guess in the 80s they didn't have spanking and they just had to use a belt." We had to talk through that a bit. 😅
- joshuacottle30April 24, 2026I really enjoyed this movie. The casting was perfect for Michael and the rest of the Jackson’s. The music was great. Only flaw is it did kinda feel like one giant music video, which I hope for the 2nd one it will explore more beyond the music and the consequences of being so famous. Overall, still an outstanding movie about the king of pop.
- Robert OHara1d agoMichael Jackson’s life is one of the most extensively documented and extraordinary stories in pop culture, yet this film adds little to our understanding of who he was. Heavily sanitized by the Jackson estate, it avoids both major and minor controversies regardless of their relevance. The film places nearly all of the family’s struggles on Joe Jackson, while failing to explore the more nuanced dynamics and sibling rivalries that shaped the Jackson family. As an opening act, it carries very little emotional weight. Instead, it feels more like a Broadway-style production designed to promote the music catalogue and rehabilitate the Jackson brand than to offer genuine insight. Rather than presenting a complex portrait of a real person, it comes across as a polished origin story for a money making mascot. What makes this especially disappointing is that there is no shortage of source material. Michael himself spoke extensively about his life and experiences, and that documented material could have provided the foundation for a far more compelling, honest, and meaningful story.
