I thought this was going to be some sort of cash grab movie they invested no real effort or time into producing, I was mostly wrong. There are some fun parts, they changed up her solo status and gave her a crew of misfits. Looks like this is the beginning of a franchise of films. Cant say I have a problem with it but I can see that if they cant make it a bit more emotionally taxing the movies will not perform like the first. I enjoyed it but something was missing.
Felt like ai written slop ngl, the characters had no real arc, it was a bucket load of “and then this happened”, with the occasional “but this” twist
In the first moana, there was just so much interaction in like just 2 characters and we could see so much development, here there were so many characters and it still felt like nothing happened
Moana 2 is a bad and forgettable movie on rewatch.
Positives:
- The animation looks great
- The voice actors do a fine job
-There are some good emotional moments
Negatives:
- The new characters are all extremely forgettable
- All the songs are forgettable
- The dialogue sucks
- The comedy is really cheesy and bad
- The villain is also really forgettable
- You don’t feel the high stakes in the third act
Overall Moana 2 is an extremely forgettable and bad sequel on rewatch.
It's entertaining but hollow when compared to the first iteration. The story was underdeveloped and the interesting part was left to the after credits just to squeeze an unnecessary 3rd movie. Disney is surely lacking imagination
The plot feels a little less clearly defined than the first, the songs feel a little less catchy, the stakes feel a little less heightened. There's nothing *bad* about it, but it's all just a little less than the original.
My two year olds favorite movie. The plots ok not as good as the 1st just hope for the 3rd one they don’t ruin it like they did with lilo and stich 2025
Rushed story plot, substandard musical numbers by Disney standards. Bad guy was weak. Not anything close to the 1st one.
Beautiful, colourful, oh so entertaining, but typical for Disney: the sequel is always weaker, forced, overdone, lacking the power and eloquence of the original.
A worthy sequel that captures the magic of the original, even if it doesn't quite surpass it. The story is a fun, lighthearted adventure with the same beautiful world and beloved characters. While the plot feels a bit weaker and the villain is forgettable, the new songs are catchy, the comedy is hilarious (Heihei steals the show again), and the animation is stunning. It’s a charming and enjoyable follow-up that successfully avoids feeling like a cheap cash grab.
