Jonathan Harker is sent away to Count Dracula's castle to sell him a house in Wismar where Jonathan lives. But Count Dracula is a vampire, an undead ghoul living off of men's blood. Inspired by a photograph of Lucy Harker, Jonathan's wife, Dracula moves to Wismar, bringing with him death and plague... An unusually contemplative version of Dracula, in which the vampire bears the curse of not being able to get old and die.

Even if you know what's coming you'll find the score, the performances, the locations and the pacing all combine in such a way that you can still be gripped and shocked. It's kind to the source materials but adds a layer of depth and gloss that really works to remaster the experience.

    An absolute classic.

may be if you can watch this in german it would be slightly better. in english, it may be one of the worst movies i've ever seen. how is this possible? bruno ganz, klaus kinksi, isabelle adjani, werner herzog....these names promise something worthwhile. the story is a mixture between fritz murnaus famous nosferatu silent film and stokers dracula. sounds intriguing, especially with the above mentioned names involved, right? oh boy are you in for a bad surprise. it is so, so boring and bland. i mean i found myself wanting to revisit dario argentos 2012 dracula and thats saying a lot. the irony is, i came here after watching argentos dracula with the hope to watch something that would wash away the stink of that movie!!! out of the frying pan and into the fire doesn't even come close. i'd actually be interested in finding out if i am alone with this opinion or not.....

A classic - for sure - though the incoherency of the ending and the quality of the acting in parts detract from the impact of the film overall.

    It sucked.

This movie started out interesting, and it has some nice cinematography. Unfortunately, the story gets worse as the movie goes. It is a much different version of Dracula, and not in a good way. In the end, I hated it.
