One of Clint's greatest Westerns. It's right up there as another 'character with no name', who helps a tin-panning community from the commercial mining operation of LaHood. The final showdown against Stockburn and his Deputies is the jewel in this particular crown. I can watch this film over and over again.

It's a good movie but not great. Predictable but still a good watch.

6.5/10 - Pale Legend Still one of Clints Classics but it is very predictable and Cliched but i don't care about that Clint always got a pass in my mind its all good.

It’s a Clint Eastwood western, and that alone has its appeal, but the movie is a bit too simplistic - feeling like a TV Movie of the week more than a grand theatrical movie. The bad guys are really bad (to remind you they shoot a dog), the good guys are really good and Clint is mysterious and profound. Maybe I am too tarnished and cynical to fall for this movie’s tropes but Eastwood is a true star - whether he’s starring or directing. As a fan of John Carpenter’s “The Thing” it is refreshing to see Richard Dysart and Charles Hallahan in roles completely different from their roles in Carpenter’s classic..

    A Client Eastwood classic.

The fascinating thing about this movie to me, is that Eastwood isn't in it as much as you'd think. But he still hovers over it as if he's around the corner in every scene.

The story line is ho hum but the Sawtooth Mountain Range around Ketchum, Idaho really steals the show. The epic vistas are the sleeping giant character that makes this movie worth watching...that and the man with no name replacing the cylinders on his revolver to reload it. Classic western bones.
