Good entry into the detective film house, some things were a little too on the nose. Overall nice film, good watch, and would recommend watching at least once in your lifetime.

Denis Villeneuve sure loves the elements Gyllenhaal’s the GOAT but Melissa Leo is so god damn good as well. In this and many other things (Homicide: Life on the Street, The Fighter, Red State, Louie…) Pretty scary film to watch au naturale (doors / windows open, candles lit) especially growing up and staying in the city BTK terrorized for decades The goddamn Riddler sings the Batman version of “Jingle Bells” in this lmfao

In Prisoners, a father goes to extreme and morally questionable lengths—crossing legal and ethical lines—to protect and recover his child, while in Home Alone, Kevin fiercely defends his house with clever traps, showing that whether through desperation or playfulness, both films ask how far someone will go to protect what’s theirs.

Prisoners personally I think is a very good movie ... The film starts a bit slow but as it progresses in the story everything becomes much more captivating and you start to want to see more! Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) doesn't look like a bad man to me but he was wrong and all he wanted to do was find out his daughter, and I bet if we were him we would do something similar because you don't think clearly! I said if we were in his place, I know it's a movie but it's so realistic and child abductions are very real, thousands of children are abducted, raped and killed all over the world, if you think about it it's really very terrifying! But going back to the movie, the film also shows Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is a very good detective but has an escape when he comes in to check on Bob Taylor to see the map he is drawing and because of Loki he kills himself. I like it because it can be stressful, no matter how good you are, so very realistic! and I want to point out that I like the little detail that Loki blinks a lot like a defect ... In the end, when Loki wants to leave the house where Keller is, he hears a whistle and here's the question, Loki leaves or Loki finds Keller ... I like to think that Loki finds out because he is a very capable and good detective than I personally think he finds out but I cry for a sequel with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal

Very good mystery, rarely contrived which is uncommon. Spectacular performances, though the script / story does have weak points, namely predictability. Dual casting of Dano and Dastmalchian is inspired, though they could have done more with that.

Now this is how you do a detective/crime thriller. This is something that only the 2010s could produce. I love the cast, I love the acting, and there were enough twists and turns to keep me interested through the 2 hour + run time. I wish I could watch this movie again for the first time. Hugh Jackman puts on a masterclass on how to portray a heartbroken father, whose only objective in life is to figure out what he did wrong. He is deranged, slowly descending into madness through the duration of the film. Gyllenhaal deserves his flowers for this one, as well. He is a diamond, as usual. I would recommend this movie every time I get the chance. It is HEAVY.

I don’t know how this awesome movie got in under my radar. It’s truly unsettling. The tension never goes away. A must watch if you like a good thriller and some of the best acting you’ll find. How far would you go to find your child if they got abducted? This movie asks that question and because of the incredible performances you can’t help but ask yourself that question. This is another one of those films that will stay with you.
