- Kevin WardJuly 5, 2025Reactions coming out of Fantastic Fest put this on my radar and had me expecting some bat shit craziness. This didn’t quite live up to that expectation. That may be because this past year has been chalk full of some hyper-violent and hyper-crazy horror films from The Sadness to Terrifier 2. Don’t get me wrong, though. Project Wolf Hunting is absolutely hyper-violent and has some craziness in store. My biggest issue with this film is that I had a hard time making sense of what exactly the plot was, who is fighting for who, what the purpose of Alpha was, etc. etc. All I can tell you is there was some sort of prisoner exchange happening between Korea and The Philippines, so a bunch of prisoners were loaded onto a boat and another group hijack’s the boat to break the prisoners free. Bloodshed ensues and then [spoiler spoiler] Bloodshed continues. I’m sure if I had seen this at festival, I would have been pleasantly surprised by it. But because I’ve been kind of anticipating this only to not really care for the story, the hyper-violence and gore alone wasn’t enough to win me over. Definitely worth checking out if you into bloody violent films.
