Where to Watch Red Snow
- Mister Arn7d ago“Red Snow” (1952) is a low-budget movie about the Indigenous people living near the Siberian border and a Russian plot to develop a devastating new weapon. The story is silly, the script is terrible, and the whole production seems designed mainly to reuse documentary footage from the 1932 film Igloo. Nearly half the movie consists of that earlier footage, while much of the rest shows people sitting around an Air Force base, joking with one another and using cold feet to hit on nurses. There are a few interesting glimpses of Indigenous life, including a traditional wedding, but they are not enough to overcome the weak storyline. The rest of the movie simply is not worth seeing.

Lieutenant Johnson, a U. S. Air Force pilot, on the tip of Alaska, a few miles from the Bering Straits from Siberia, helps foil a Soviet plot to test a new secret weapon by loyal Alaskan Eskimos. He is aided by Sergeant Koovuk, an Alaska native Eskimo also in the U.S. military service. Along the way there is an ice-floe evacuation, an air-ice rescue and a fight with a polar bear.
