Overall a very poor sequel, that has none of the fun & thrills as its predecessor. This is a very cheap knock off of the 1999 film! I don't recommend this sequel, just stick to watching the 1999 remake and 1959 Classic and pretend "Return To House On Haunted Hill" doesn't exist. My Ratings & Scores for "Return To House On Haunted Hill" are 1.5/5 Stars 🌟 & a 2.25/10

The first was so campy in a great way and was excited to see how they would return to the world, but I was left disappointed as it just devolved into horror tropes with no larger message. Watch the first, skip this one and go to the Netflix series, same universe, but deeper, more serious take.
- FishersChillsJune 16, 2026Back in 2007 I absolutely loathed this cheap DTV trash (yes, I was a massive fan of the 1999 remake); and here, in 2026 I still think this movie is total trash, but crazily I lowkey enjoyed it. The sequel is unnecessary and involves a stupid plot with a heist / hostage situation and a whole set of awful characters but beyond all that silliness, the movie still manages to be quite fun. The gore and grotesqueness are a pleasant surprise (albeit completely unnecessary for a supernatural film) and this creates a grittier vibe that was fun to watch. I’ll probably never revisit the film again, but I am glad I at least gave it a 2nd view almost 20 years later 🤣 👻
