I don't know what this movie meant to me. I think I saw it too late. But I still look at it as an icon of 80's culture. The casting of Joan as John's sister was absolutely brilliant. The "meme" scene didn't hold the weight I thought it would... but the back & forth between the leads was pretty great.

This is a top-tier 80s movie. The characters are a bit clunky, but that only adds to its nostalgic charm. It masterfully weaves together two storylines that swirl into one unforgettable masterpiece.

A timeless classic and a romantic comedy masterpiece about a dude named Lloyd who just wants to be with a girl called Diane, because he's good at it.

Cute and very innocent if somewhat unremarkable teenage romcom. Great performance by John Cusack.

Until a few years ago, I only knew this movie as the one where John Cusack puts a boombox over his head, iconically. But I gotta say, while this is a fine 80s teen romance movie, it absolutely excels as a father-daughter movie. Their relationship is the core conflict of this film, and it is what truly makes it memorable in my opinion. Go in expecting some good songs and lots of heart, and I think you'll come out surprised how much this movie affects you. I know I was. PS. John Cusack is a boss. Check out Grosse Pointe Blank as well if you want some more Cus-acktion.
