This one is a jaw-dropping ride. My mind is blown that this is a true story. It's not surprising that it would be true given the world we live in, but wow. It seems out there, but it's not. It really happened. Elizabeth Montgomery is a joy to behold playing an overbearing mother who is about as far from Samantha Stevens as you can get, but still very much a witch, just one that doesn't use magic. Dale Midkiff has the unenviable task of portraying mental health struggles in a way that evades detection and he nails it. Heather Fairfield, who I'd never seen before, really blew me away. Her performance is so exquisite that you can literally read her mind at all times. Why oh why wasn't she in many more movies? Hopefully she's still out there working because I want to see more. If you like TV movies or true story films, this is can't miss. Like me, you'll be looking up the real case afterward to learn more about this tragic yet oh-so fascinating story.
