Would have worked better as a TV special.

Stargate is at it again! The Stargate universe is so expansive that it is easy to lose track of all the different adventures. However, one thing that you can rest assured of is this is not the first incident of Stargate based time travel. While they do take a giant swing at this one, by completely precluding the entire Stargate program due to the acts of Ba'al, it does feel like a story that lacked a bit of originality. Now for the good part, the cast is the same cast you have come to love, and with that, they can pack in so much more background information.

For a feature length film, I was expecting more. But, if you are a fan of the SG TV series, you basically got that but in an extended format, which will work for some. If you aren’t already a fan, this is a mediocre flick which does little to wow you. The only interesting thing about this movie was the alternate timelines moral defense of it’s own existence and preventing the heroes from “fixing” things. It was compelling. But that was a fleeting moment and then the plot went on its way to force a series of events in order to restore the original timeline. It’s a shame. They could have done something much more interesting with that. It didn’t really feel like an inspired. Just like someone found a “what-if” script kicking around somewhere and decided to go with it.

A good movie for Stargate fans. And a nice farewell after all those adventures.
