What if Daniel Day Lewis, what some consider this or any generations greatest actor was in a screwball comedy that only has a 40 some percent rating on IMDb… it’s not a what if. It’s Stars and Bars. To be fair it’s not exactly screwball comedy… imma call it hijinks comedy. And it’s not very good. Some great actors here. And some committed performances. With a less than average script and less than average direction and editing. In a weird way its premise reminded me of Nothing But Trouble, but not nearly as weird or interesting as that movie. I ain’t mad I watched it but short of just trying to watch everything DDL is in it’s not worth watching. Or... if you gotta see DDL’s lanky scarecrow body nude for several minutes then this movie is for you.
