As Irrfan Khan's character poignantly points out, if the police had simply done their job correctly during the initial investigation, the case would have been solved years ago. Instead, systemic incompetence turned a straightforward tragedy into a permanent mystery: the real killers walked free, no justice was served, and the grieving parents were scapegoated and punished instead.
