- PhysicalMedia4Life1d agoThe 13th Warrior has its flaws and was a major flop at the Box Office. It wasn't recieved well critically either! However I don't think its a terrible movie, the film does have a lot to offer there's some very good battle scenes. Tonaly I think its well balanced. It has that atmosphere to it. Both the production & costume designs are also really good. Its not boring, its got solid looking cinematography. But what ultimately lets this movie down is its plotholes, everything didn't quite come together like it should have. If they had just tweaked a few things and tightened up on the whole storytelling and have it all come to fruition as best it could have been; then The 13th Warrior would have been much better recieved by critics & fans a 💯 In fairness the film, does have a lot going for it. My Personal Ratings for The 13th Warrior is ⭐️⭐️⭐️ & a half stars & a 6.5/10
- ርልዪረMay 18, 2025If you like heroes and heroic deeds then this is a movie for you. Banderas is very good in the main role but where the movie really shines is with the King "Buliwyf" who leads the 13 to fight an ancient evil in a faraway land. This is a no frills movie that takes place in a very believable setting but what it lacks for story development and character development it makes up for with the stuff of legend and the heroes who lived it. If you don't watch it with the expectation of a big budget cgi action movie you'll enjoy it. It's easily a lot better than it tends to be displayed. To this day after seeing this at the theater I can't help but smile when I think of "Buliwyf" and a heroic orchestra playing a stirring majestic music for him as he fights overwhelming odds in a hopeless cause.
- ZokkiieJuly 18, 2026This is one of those movies that's just really easy to sit back and enjoy. The atmosphere is great, the locations look awesome, and the movie has a nice sense of adventure to it. The group of warriors is fun to follow, and Antonio Banderas works surprisingly well in the lead role. There are also a few genuinely cool and memorable scenes, especially once the movie starts leaning more into the horror elements. The story is pretty simple, and some parts feel a bit messy, which probably isn't surprising considering all the production issues this movie had. The characters outside of a few standouts could've been fleshed out more, and the movie feels a bit rushed at times. Also, as a Swede, I always get entertained by Hollywood Vikings. They're almost never accurate, but it's always funny seeing the over-the-top accents, costumes, and general Viking stereotypes. Definitely not a masterpiece, but a fun mix of adventure, action, and horror. One of those movies that's way easier to enjoy if you don't take it too seriously.
- GabrielSeptember 6, 2025Critically panned when released and it shows. The set pieces, action scenes, and the attention to detail is the high point. This movie could've benefitted from being about 45 minutes longer. The ending came way to fast. It didn't give you a chance to really care about the characters at all. While he isn't credited as being a director, but Michael Crichton directed the reshoots, and it's based off of one of his stories.
