A slick sci-fi actioner from the turn of the millennium, *The 6th Day* tackles intriguing questions about identity and humanity in a world of commercial cloning. It’s an entertaining, if somewhat familiar, vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger that blends big ideas with bigger explosions. The Good: The film’s central premise is genuinely thought-provoking, exploring the ethical and personal ramifications of human cloning with more depth than one might expect. The action sequences are well-staged, classic Schwarzenegger fare, providing plenty of excitement. There's also a surprising amount of humor that lands well, particularly with the "RePet" cloning company and the flawed clone henchmen, giving the movie a playful, satirical edge. The Bad: Despite its smart concept, the screenplay often opts for a conventional chase-movie formula, failing to fully explore its most interesting ideas. The early 2000s special effects, especially regarding the futuristic technology and the Sim-Pal doll, have not aged gracefully. The villains are rather one-dimensional, and the film’s tone can be uneven, shifting awkwardly between serious sci-fi drama and campy action-comedy. *The 6th Day* is a fun and competent sci-fi romp that offers a satisfying dose of nostalgia, even if its execution doesn't quite live up to its ambitious premise.

It’s Arnie. So. Ya know. It’s decent enough. Hasn’t aged very though.

Weaker than your typical Arnold action films, not as fun, probably cuz it’s got Michael Rapaport in it (shudder).

Kinda feels like a time capsule of early-2000s sci-fi—big ideas, big action, and a bit of that cheesy charm. The whole thing is pretty wacky story-wise, but honestly it’s still entertaining enough to keep you watching. Arnold does his usual thing and carries it well, even when the script gets a little out there. That said, some effects didn’t age well, and a few moments feel more goofy than they probably intended. It tries to be smarter than it is at times, but if you don’t take it too seriously, it’s a fun ride.

“The 6th Day” is a sci-fi thriller built around cloning, corporate overreach, and the uneasy question of soul versus copy. The premise has weight, but the film leans more on exposition than lived moral conflict. Characters discuss ethics rather than embody them, and much of the structure is designed to move from one action set piece to the next, complete with plenty of futuristic firepower. It asks the right questions about identity and ownership of life. It just never delivers on them.

Holds up much better a quarter of a century later where AI invades all aspects of our lives. Very prescient!

Meh it was an ok watch while working on a few things.

Strangely, it wears better on 2nd viewing decades later despite the ridiculously dated sfx. Once you grant the McGuffin of the insta-clones, it's actually posing some really interesting questions, and Arnie, as always, turns in a game performance.
