    The Christmas Tree

This movie has always really touched me. I watched it for the first time back in the 70s on Italian national TV. It hit me hard because, for the first time in my life, I was faced with such a heartbreaking story: the realization that even a child could die. I was the same age as the young main character, so it completely resonated with me. It was a childhood shock that I still remember perfectly. God, I cried so much over that unacceptable ending; even now that I'm an adult and getting up there in years, I still carry that emotion with me. It's a movie I keep close to my heart.
