Legendary film maker Roger Corman took considerable risk when against intentional racist opposition he pushed "The Intruder" into production, against all odds in 1962 during a time when White American audiences preferred to confront racism either via allegory, total denial, or through period pieces, as opposed to stories set in the reality of the times. "The Intruder" was way ahead of its time in dealing with racism and the murder of African Americans by mob lynching "The Intruder" is underrated and unrecognized to this day as one of the first American movies by a up and coming major Hollywood director to deal honestly and realistically with the horror of white racism and the KKK, just as the Civil Rights movement was forcing Americas entrenched racist culture to change forever!

Very timely subject matter. Shatner gave an excellent performance as the lead.
